ALWAYS POSTED A WEEK EARLIER ON PATREON

Podcast Updates

We had two shows this week.  On Tuesday, the internationally acclaimed Comic Creator and official Friend of the Show, Daphne Lage came on for the fourth time. She’s talked with us on her latest Kickstarter: Egoraven: Heir of the First Unicorn #1 - 4 & Prequel Story.

I always enjoy talking with Daphne as she has amazing advice and stories for comic creators.

On Thursday, we were fortunate to have the notable Dan Chodorkoff on the show. He talked about his latest novel, ‘Sugaring Down’. It is a historical political fiction book that takes place in the backdrop of Vermont in the 1960s.  it was very fun chatting with him and learning about his pragmatic and passionate style of writing.

Project Updates

I was very excited to get in the mail my first author copy of my Dad Joke book.  Thumbing through it, it looks like it came out well.  The next steps now will be to get it published via Ingram Spark so it can be readily available at bookstores.

I am now in the process of editing my Nigerian Proverbs book.  I want to now be sure that I can get at least 2 books done a year.

First self-published book in 5 years!

What I’m reading

I finished reading the second book in the ‘5 Worlds’ series by Mark Siegel.  Book One set up the series, in  ‘The Cobalt Prince’ I really start to see the characters move from being story archetypes to evolving into more fully flushed people with profound and recognizable emotions and motivations.  After reading this second book, I am invested to see the three main characters grow and evolve in this epic ‘save the universe’ journey.

This is a middle-grade graphic novel series, but Siegel can tell a story that I believe is more well written than many adult fantasy epics that try to evoke a similar level of world building.  Others do it at the expense of character development, but Siegel weaves both internal and external conflicts for the heroes in a way that seems natural.

Personal Updates

I am now at the 186-pound mark this week.  I am feeling very good on my progress and really feeling comfortable in my new body.  With only 12 more pounds to go in order to get to my goal weight, I am more confident than ever that I can reach it.

I was just chatting with my wife a couple of days ago about the immense amount of gratitude I am feeling right now.  Losing weight, having a job I love, connecting with other creatives through my podcast, being able to spend time with my amazing children, and falling in love with my wife every day…

I am so grateful and will not take any of this for granted.
