ALWAYS POSTED A WEEK EARLIER ON PATREON

Podcast Updates

This past week I recorded and uploaded episodes 106 and 107.  This was the first time in a long time that I recorded on a Wednesday, but I really wanted to make time to talk to the incredibly brilliant Dirk Stanley.  He launched his latest Kickstarter for his latest roleplaying game in his Far Away Land universe setting.

I have been a fan of his work for years and it was so fun to finally talk with him.

On Thursday, I talked with the fun and talented children’s book author, Rhonda J Jenkins!  Despite the internet challenges I had during the Livestream, it turned out to be a fun interview.

Project Updates

This past week I made steady progress in learning about the ‘Powered By The Apocalypse’ game system by reading some games that use the system.

I am also 15 drawings in for my exclamations book.  I will probably share more detailed pictures of it with my Patreon supporters.

I am enjoying doing some of these fewer intensive projects right now.  It helps my creative muscle memory to return to full power.

What I’m reading

A few months ago, I interviewed Jason Lennox regarding his latest ‘Lords of the Cosmos’ comic book when it was live on Kickstarter.  I was happy to see issues 1 through 4 arrive in the mail.  Although I read issues one, two, and three as a PDF, it was nice to have all 4 physical copies.

Lords of the Cosmos is a quintessential homage to 80’s culture.  On the surface, it appears to reference ‘Heavy Metal’ and influenced by the artwork of the bands of Iron Maiden and Metallica.

As I read more of the story, it was fun to see also inspirations from the 80’s cartoons and toys as well.  This comes with loosely referenced 80’s toy packaging where stats of the heroes and villains were on the pack of the boxes.  Transformers and GI Joe immediately come to mind.  The comics are set up in an anthology fashion, where there is the main storyline in the first half of the comic, and then there are some complementary stories on tertiary characters in the second half of each issue. Jason has done a great job creating a giant cast of characters on both sides.  I’m excited to read issue five now.

This past week I have made slow but steady progress on the weight loss journey.  I am now down to 208.  The overall direction is still positive, and I have been staying active as well.

At work, we have been getting ready for our virtual Cerebral Palsy Conference.  Although I am not actively working on it as much as I did last year, since we have built up a stronger team around it; I am hoping to step away from it completely by next year so I can focus more on other aspects of my job.

I have slowly been also cleaning up more of the Lego collections I purchased.
