What I enjoyed most about this book was how accessible it is. Rather than one long narrative, it's made up of dozens of short entries featuring haunted locations, ghost stories, and local legends from across Vermont. That made it a perfect distraction after a busy day. I could pick it up, read a few stories, put it down, and come back later without ever feeling like I had lost my place.

This vintage paperback is packed with the kind of fast-talking, absurd humor that doesn’t show up much anymore. Poor Cosmo Topper once again finds himself dragged into supernatural chaos thanks to the endlessly mischievous George and Marion Kerby. What follows is part ghost story, part screwball comedy, and part social satire, all wrapped together with Smith’s playful writing style. 

The story is pretty weird, and it seems a bit haphazard, but I am also assuming it is a collection of serialized stories. It basically reminded me of a magical unicorn version of “Quantum Leap”.
