Comic Review: "SKP" by Isaiah Ratliff, Art by Andrea Ivetic Vicai
During a recent visit to the Vermont Sci-Fi and Fantasy Expo, I stumbled upon a gem of a comic titled "SKP," created by Isaiah Ratliff, with striking artwork by Andrea Ivetic Vicai. This 31-page issue is a captivating entry into what promises to be a profoundly engaging series, blending fairy tale charm with a futuristic sci-fi setting.
"SKP" introduces us to a world where a robot boy named RSD gains sentience and forms an unlikely friendship with a broken dog robot, SKP. Unlike typical stories about a boy and his dog, this narrative delves into the realm of robots, exploring themes of consciousness and connection. The plot takes a heartwarming twist as RSD, defying his programming and protocol, decides not to reclaim SKP for parts but instead attempts to repair his newfound friend.
The story is beautifully crafted for all ages, offering both simplicity and depth, making it accessible yet profound. Andrea Ivetic Vicai’s artwork complements Ratliff's storytelling wonderfully, enhancing the futuristic yet nostalgic feel of the narrative. The illustrations are expressive and detailed, capturing the emotions and setting with a clarity that pulls the reader deeper into the story.
The ending of "SKP" is tragic and hopeful, leaving readers longing to discover more about this world and its characters. It’s a narrative that resonates on many levels, encouraging us to think about what it means to be alive and the power of friendship.
I am genuinely excited to see where Isaiah Ratliff takes this story. "SKP" is a delightful read, rich with potential and imagination, promising more intriguing explorations of its unique characters and their world. For anyone who enjoys a blend of science fiction with a touch of whimsy and heart, "SKP" is worth picking up.
Community Connections and Preparations: A Busy Week!
This past week has been a whirlwind of community involvement and exciting preparations. Engaging with various local clubs and organizations has been incredibly fulfilling, each playing a vital role in enriching our community.
A Week Full of Meetings
My week started with a meeting at the Chamber of Commerce on Monday. It was great to catch up with fellow members and discuss plans and initiatives to boost local business and community activities. These discussions are always enlightening and set a productive tone for the week.
On Thursday, I had the honor of being the guest speaker at a Lions Club meeting. It was truly inspiring to speak to a group of people who are so dedicated to service and community support. I shared some insights from my experiences in media and broadcasting, and the interactive Q&A session was particularly engaging.
The Rotary Club meeting was another highlight. We are ramping up our efforts for the upcoming Rotary Club golf tournament, and I've been collaborating with the team to boost the event's visibility through targeted advertising. It’s exciting to contribute to the success of such a fun and meaningful event.
Finally, the Masonic Lodge meeting on Saturday rounded off a week of rich interaction and community service. It’s always a time of deep fellowship and planning for future charitable activities.
Bear Ridge Speedway Broadcast Preparations
Amidst these meetings, we've also been preparing for our first broadcast at Bear Ridge Speedway. The team is buzzing with anticipation as we set everything in place to ensure a smooth and engaging live broadcast. It’s exhilarating to bring such a dynamic event to our listeners, and I can’t wait to see all our hard work pay off.
