MechaTon: Punching Through the Sci-Fi Genre with Wells Thompson

In the realm of indie comics, where creativity knows no bounds, Wells Thompson emerges as a beacon of innovation and storytelling prowess. Episode 338 of Storycomic Presents offered an exclusive glimpse into Thompson's latest venture, "MechaTon Vol. 1," a sci-fi action comic that's as much a tribute to the golden era of '90s anime and Saturday morning cartoons as it is a forward-looking exploration of technology and heroism.

MechaTon is not just another comic; it's a vibrant universe where anything can turn into a mech with just a punch, thanks to the fantastical MechaTon glove. This imaginative premise serves as the backdrop for an action-heavy narrative, where protagonists Derek and Leah embark on a mission to save their neighborhood from an onslaught of giant mutant insects and power-hungry adversaries. Their journey is a thrilling mix of humor, adventure, and the timeless struggle against formidable foes.

Wells Thompson, with his unique blend of humor, action, and heartfelt storytelling, invites readers into a world where the lines between video games, mech battles, and real-life heroics blur. "MechaTon" stands as a testament to Thompson's passion for storytelling and his dedication to his craft, proving that even the wildest dreams can find their place in the pages of a comic. This episode is a must-watch for fans and newcomers alike, offering a rich narrative experience that's as entertaining as it is inspiring.

The Last Leaf: 'This Old House' Magazine's Print Farewell

Since becoming a homeowner in 2016, subscribing to "This Old House" magazine was as crucial to settling in as arranging for Schwan’s delivery service—it was an essential step into homeownership. This magazine has been a cornerstone of home improvement knowledge, offering guidance, inspiration, and practical advice for various projects around my house.

The arrival of the final print edition was a poignant moment. It signifies the end of an era for a publication that has been a go-to resource for homeowners like me, offering wisdom on everything from quick fixes to comprehensive renovations. "This Old House" has been a beacon, illuminating the path to transforming houses into homes filled with personal touches and memories.

As a print subscriber, the transition to the final edition is bittersweet. While I will continue to have access to abundant resources through the "This Old House Insider" membership, there's something irreplaceable about the tactile experience of flipping through a magazine's pages. The digital membership promises extensive information and insights, yet the tangible connection to a physical magazine holds a special place in my heart.

The end of "This Old House" in print signifies the shift towards digital content consumption. Despite this change, the magazine's legacy of empowering homeowners with the confidence to tackle home improvement projects remains unchanged. Its influence extends beyond the printed page, inspiring and guiding us in creating spaces that reflect our lives and values. As we move forward, the essence of "This Old House" lives on, adapting to new formats while retaining its core mission of helping homeowners everywhere.

IKEA Runs and Website Fun: A Week of Growth and Home Improvement

This week marked a pivotal moment for me and my venture, Yankee Kingdom Media. After a thorough review of my business plan, it became clear that relying solely on the growth of radio station revenue wouldn't suffice for the significant expansion I envision. The realization that diversification of revenue sources is crucial led me to tap into a domain where I hold a dozen years of expertise: website design. Thus, I'm thrilled to introduce 'Maple Media Designs,' a new LLC under the Yankee Kingdom Media Corp banner, dedicated to crafting tremendous and personalized websites. This venture was inspired by inquiries from several businesses seeking reputable web design services, and I'm excited to fill that niche.

In other news, the journey of settling into our downstairs bedroom continues. This week saw the installation of closet shelving, a small yet significant step towards making the space truly ours. Additionally, my wife and I ventured to the IKEA outside Montreal, a trip aimed at acquiring cabinets and storage units for her business. This not only supports her entrepreneurial endeavors but also contributes to organizing our home more efficiently.

Launching Maple Media Designs and progressing on our home front are steps towards a future where professional growth and personal life harmoniously blend. I'm eager to share more updates as both these ventures evolve. Stay tuned!
