ALWAYS POSTED A WEEK EARLIER ON PATREON

Podcast Updates

Last Tuesday, Bernie Lambek, a lawyer by day and mystery author by night, came on the show to talk about his latest thriller, “Intent to Commit”. He chatted about his writing and proof-reading methods while explaining his passion for having his books set in Vermont and addressing First Amendment court proceedings.

On Thursday, Samuel Vera of the ‘Catch da Craze’ podcast came on to chat about his latest Kickstarter project. “There's an Alien in my Toilet #1” is an All Ages Sci-Fi Comedy that has some educational components to it so it can be shared and studied in the classroom.  Samuel is an inspiring and driven comic creator, and he had a lot of knowledge to share.

Project Updates

This past week I worked more on formatting the dad joke book.  I installed a table of contents, page numbers, and now working on a cover design.  I might make a couple of them and get some feedback on it.

The branching novel project got put on hold for a bit as Inklewriter, the online software I use seemed to have some issues with the mapping tool.

What I’m reading

This past week I finished reading the graphic novel adaption of Neil Gaiman’s ‘The Graveyard Book’

I have always loved Neil Gaiman’s stories.  They possess an accessible amount of horror and whimsy while making incredibly niche settings easy to understand by any reader.  There is no level of condensation to his narrative, and this book is a great example of it.

The setup of the book is fun.  It follows a boy named Nobody who is orphaned and then raised by ghosts in a cemetery.  There are ways to make parallels to the Jungle Book, replacing wolves with ghosts and replacing Bagheera with Silas the vampire.

I am going to look forward to reading volume 2.

I would recommend this book to anyone who is a fan of Gaimen’s work.

Personal Updates

COVID case counts continue to go down, there is much talk about moving from pandemic to endemic phase.  Still being one of the families that has a youngster ineligible for a vaccine, we are still going to end up taking a cautious approach to masking in general.  I am very optimistic in the direction we are heading but will be very relieved once this is behind us.

The daylight continues to grow. As of this writing, we have 2 hours and 10 extra minutes of daylight compared to our darkest day of the year, December 21st.  Here in Vermont, the end of February brings distinctively more sunlight.

On my weight loss journey, I am also down to 189 pounds!

Have fun after Friday’s snow storm
