ALWAYS POSTED A WEEK EARLIER ON PATREON

Podcast Updates

I had such a fun week of interviews.  I was able to slot in 3 interviews this week. On Tuesday, I had the always enjoyable Australian author, Amy Laurens.  We chatted about the opportunities and challenges of authors during the pandemic, along with some great time management tips.

On Thursday, I had 2 interviews.  This first one was with award-winning British Historical Fiction author, Melissa Addey.  She has some great advice for writers who want to write about historical settings and provided some amazing trivia related to the Roman Colosseum.

On Thursday night, the legendary Mark Kistler came on the show and talked to us about how he kept busy during the pandemic and how well he was able to pivot from in-person work to virtual work.

Project Updates

I’m proud to say that I kept myself busy while working on 3 projects.  I did some more formatting of my dad joke book, I did some writing on my ‘Appliance’ game, and I did some building sketches for my Christmas-themed children’s book.

I also am slowly getting back into my World of Warcraft Themed vintage postcard project.

What I’m reading

This past week I read ‘The Postman From Space’ by Guillaume Perreault.  It is a children’s graphic novel about a postman who had is route changed on him one day and he had to deliver mail to a new set of planets.

It was a very fun and quick read, and much like all children’s books, it had a nice moral to its story.

I really enjoyed how Perreault weaved minimalistic frames with more detailed pictures.  His style is also accessible enough for a reader to emulate.

Personal Updates

This week we had Omicron bearing down on us with an explosion of cases across the state.  At my day job, we are starting to see folks catching COVID and need to step out of work.

Our 7-year-old was considered a ‘close-contact’ at school; so, she is going to be quarantined for a few days.  The wife and I are not worried too much, since our girls are vaccinated, and she has also been wearing her KN95 masks at school.  But you will all know for sure by next week’s update.

On the Weight loss front, I am happily down to 191 pounds as of this writing.  I feel good and I have been sleeping well for the last several weeks. Also because of the new mandates we have in our office, I need to take weekly COVID tests, and I’m still negative there.

Other things to track, as of today (January 15th) I’m excited and grateful to have 23 extra minutes of daylight compared to our darkest day of the year, December 21st.
