Podcast Updates
This past Tuesday, I had a great time chatting with the acclaimed and award-winning poet and author, Samantha Kolber!
She came to talk about her newest chapbook, “Birth of a Daughter” and provides some advice for new writers.
I also prerecorded my episode 100 with Carye and Jason Bye, the unofficial ambassadors to the Barney Smith Toilet Seat Art Museum.
Project Updates
With Sheena basically done, I started to jump into my new easier project which will be a collection of dad jokes. I’m drawing some illustrations for it now.
What I’m reading
I read Tony McMillen’s newest book, AttaBoy.
Tony made the book in a treasury size and it was a great idea to have the book in a larger than normal comic book size format.
I really loved the story. It was a combination of classic Nintendo game instructional manual with symbolism and parallels to the narrator’s personal history.
He was successful in creating a story that possessed a sense of Gen X nostalgia while acknowledging that the generation is securely in middle age where we are now thinking about the optimistic philosophical realities of our own mortality.
Personal Updates
I’m a couple weeks into my Noom journey and I’ve lost 6 pounds so far. Delta Variant is now in Vermont and my day job reinstituted mask wearing when in a room with other people. We are still the highest vaccinated state, so we have that going for us.
I ordered more CGC kits to start sending more comic books to get slabbed. All part of my slow work to cleaning up the basement.
