Podcast Update: A Season of Planning and New Possibilities

As we enter the second half of December, it's time for my annual pause in podcast recordings. This break is not just a period of rest, but an opportunity for growth and planning. It's the time when I reach out to potential new guests, laying the groundwork for another year of engaging and diverse conversations on Storycomic Presents.

The upcoming year is particularly exciting for me, as it will be my first full year of owning a radio station. This new venture opens up a world of possibilities for the podcast. I'm eager to explore how I can intertwine my day job with the podcast, potentially bringing more musician interviews and unique content that bridges the gap between radio broadcasting and podcast storytelling.

The synergy between the radio station and the podcast promises to enrich both platforms. I anticipate that this integration will not only enhance the variety and quality of our content but also provide our listeners with a more comprehensive and diverse listening experience.

Stay tuned for updates as I navigate this new chapter. Your support and enthusiasm have always been the driving force behind Storycomic Presents, and I'm looking forward to sharing this journey with you. Here's to a year of new beginnings, exciting collaborations, and captivating stories!

Project Update: New Beginnings and Revived Inspirations

As we close the chapter on 'Dadder Jokes,' with all aspects of the Kickstarter campaign successfully completed, I'm excited to announce that I've begun working on the illustrations for the next installment, 'Daddest Jokes.' This new project is shaping up to be a delightful continuation of the humor and creativity that you've come to enjoy.

On another exciting note, I recently had the opportunity to be a guest on Owen Kerr's podcast. This experience reignited my passion for another one of my projects, 'Appliance.' The conversation with Owen brought back a flood of ideas and inspiration, and it's motivated me to revisit this project. I'm looking forward to diving back into 'Appliance' and exploring where this renewed interest takes me.

In the coming months, I'll be balancing my focus between bringing 'Daddest Jokes' to life and revisiting the world of 'Appliance.' It's an exhilarating time, filled with creative possibilities and the potential for new storytelling adventures.

Stay tuned for more updates on these projects. Your support and enthusiasm have always been a significant part of my creative journey, and I can't wait to share these new developments with you. Here's to a future filled with laughter, creativity, and exciting new stories!

"Lucy Veloz: High Flying Princess" - A Stellar Adventure Igniting STEM Passion in Young Minds

"Lucy Veloz: High Flying Princess," masterfully written by Alex Hernandez and brilliantly illustrated by Patrick Lugo, is a captivating tale that seamlessly blends science fiction and adventure, making it an ideal read for young explorers, particularly those aged 6 to 8. This book introduces us to Lucy Veloz, a Latina superhero whose intelligence, creativity, and bravery shine as brightly as her high-flying adventures.

The story unfolds in a galaxy where Lucy uses her remarkable inventions to combat monstrous threats, showcasing her as a role model who embodies the excitement and importance of STEM fields. Hernandez's storytelling is both engaging and educational, presenting complex scientific concepts in a manner that is accessible and intriguing to young readers. The narrative is thoughtfully divided into small, easy-to-read chapters, each packed with action and adventure, ensuring that young readers remain engaged and eager to turn the page.

Patrick Lugo's full-color illustrations are a visual feast, capturing the essence of Lucy's world with vibrant and dynamic imagery. His artistic style complements Hernandez's storytelling beautifully, making the book not just a reading experience but a visual journey as well. The illustrations play a crucial role in maintaining the story's pace, keeping even 8 and 9-year-olds fully engaged and immersed in Lucy's world.

As a father of two young girls, I deeply appreciate the book's emphasis on normalizing intelligence and a passion for STEM among young girls. "Lucy Veloz: High Flying Princess" empowers young readers, especially girls, to see themselves as capable and adventurous, breaking stereotypes and encouraging them to embrace their curiosity and ambition.

A Week of Confidence and Festive Preparations

As another week wraps up, I find myself reflecting on the progress and little joys that have marked these past few days. It's been a period of growing confidence and festive activities, each contributing to a sense of fulfillment and anticipation for what lies ahead.

One of the highlights of this week has been my increasing comfort and understanding in running the radio station. Each day brings new challenges and learning opportunities, and I'm finding that my confidence in handling these tasks is steadily building. It's a reassuring feeling, knowing that I'm becoming more adept at navigating the complexities of this role. This growing confidence is not just about mastering the technical aspects; it's also about understanding the nuances of managing a team, engaging with the community, and creating content that resonates with our audience.

Christmas Card Week

In the spirit of the season, we dedicated time this week to sending out Christmas cards to our friends and neighbors. It's a small but meaningful tradition that helps us stay connected and spread a bit of holiday cheer. There's something special about the act of writing and mailing physical cards – it feels more personal and heartfelt, especially in today's digital age.

Christmas Shopping and Home Renovations

I'm also pleased to report that our Christmas shopping is almost complete. It's a relief to have most of it done ahead of time, allowing us to avoid the last-minute rush and truly enjoy the season's festivities.

Adding to the excitement, my friend is back to work on our bedroom renovation. The project is moving along smoothly, and it's thrilling to think that in just a couple of weeks, we'll have our new downstairs bedroom ready. The anticipation of this new space in our home adds an extra layer of joy to our holiday preparations.

As we move closer to Christmas, I'm filled with gratitude for these moments of progress, both professionally and personally. It's shaping up to be a season filled with warmth, accomplishment, and the company of loved ones.

We’re getting there!
